PEEBEE HAS A WISH

In that tree, which really was much taller than any other tree, lived a very big, tall, plump bird, his name was peepabibiooga. But all the natives of Razzel-mazzelland found that name too long to remember and they called the big bird simply, peebee. That was indeed a much shorter name and much easier to remember.

It is a known fact that small birds are usually very afraid of big, tall birds. However in Razzel-mazzelland there was no bird, short or tall, who was afraid of peebee, because he was nice and friendly to everyone. Everyone wanted to be a friend of peebee. Well, almost everyone, because, there where other who were envious or jealous, like peebee’s neighbour, Jick the Red-striped Zagger. But that is a story for later.

The feeling very satisfied with himself, the Rollemoll went on his way, he had very big smile on his face because some nasty plan was growing in that ugly head of him. And for sure, peebee was a fool. He was the only one in Razzel-mazzelland to believe that a rascal such as pickle could help him to become a Blue-wing. Well, as everyone knows, when peebee wanted something.

One must admit that Drizz’s great respect for those who showed themselves masters in cheating others had always been healthy, but this time Drizz was a bit over enthusiastic about the criminal intentions of Pickle, and in his excitment he screamed very loudly,  “A triple hurrah for the great plan of my friend Pickle!!”

And with real dignity at a job well done, the Great Mastouk walked homewards, followed by the Rollemoll, bearing himself with no less an amount of Rollemoll dignity, but who looked from time to time over his shoulder, just to be sure that peebee had taken the right road home to his own storehouse.

Because Pickle had put some Olala flower powder in peebee’s drink, Olala flower powder is very strong. It can put a giant six footed brumblebear to sleep in two minutes flat. Not surprisingly Pickle and Drizz didn’t want peebee to see what kind of transformation method they had in mind for him. That’s why they had to put him to sleep! As soon as peebee had closed his eyes, Pickle and Drizz brought many pots were filled with paints of many different shades of blue, green blue, blue green, black blue green, night blue, morning green and many more greens yet. Taking large, and not so large brushes, they started with great concentration to paint peebee all over, from head to toe, top to tail, without forgetting even toenail.
And it has to be admitted they did do a very good job, because the big brown, grey, middle grey and black bird was changed into a kind of oversized bird of paradise, with wings and other feathers now painted a brilliant green and sparkling blue. Although it was not a real transformation, it certainly was a big change!
Pickle and Drizz decided that the time had come to celebrate the succesful transformation of peebee. The celebration started with the opening of the biggest box of sweet moosters. It was a delicacy they enjoyed till the box was empety.

And with these last words, resounding around him, peebee took his leave and flew away, leaving a speechless and very angry Mrs. Kackle behind, something that nobody should worry their heads over given her nastiness. His unpleasant encounter with that ghastly Mrs. Kackle was soon forgotten, however. Peebee was enjoying his new Blue-wing life too much to have time for anything less than pleasant thoughts. He took great dives, came up again, flapped through the thin air and in so doing nearby bumped into a real Blue-wing. A collision was avoided at the last second thanks only to a delicate flip that Blue-wings are famous for. She stared in utter amazement at peebee.

And just as Mrs. Kackle was having exactly the same though about gold, she said out loud, “Of all the moosters in the honeypot, gold in a water puddle? Never mind the colour of the puddle. But gold in a water puddle, that really is no joke! Where does the gold come from? Am I  standing under a gold tree? Better have a look.” In the end it was the sharp, fluty voice that made him recognize Mrs. Kackle.
The rain had caused a second transformation. The mixed transformer colours, all running over him, had changed peebee from a Blue-wing into a kind of blue and green tinged alien from outer space.

The whole crowed, shouted in agreement. Jick saw that there was no reason for him to stay a minute longer, and cursing everybody, he flew away. Then there was silience again, and one by one, everybody left. No one wanted to ask questions. There would be plenty of time to find out what had really happened to their friend later.
Peebee sat at the foot of the tree. He felt so very alone, so humiliated and so very ashamed. The rain had stopped and the sun was trying to make a radiant comeback. He noticed how quiet and peaceful it had become in the big Biggle Boggle Forest. But in Peebee’s head there was no peace.

So resume for all this story is :
In Razzel-mazzeland next to the Great Snugle Sea lived a tall, plump bird named Peebee. Peebee was a very friendly bird indeed, and most everyone liked him. But when Peebee wanted something there was nothing that could change his mind or stop him. Peebee watched a beautiful Blue-wing dance in the air gracefully and decided that he, too, would become a Blue-wing. But how could such a big, plump bird as he become a slim, graceful Blue-wing.
